Nnedi Okorafor Takes Venom To Lagos In Venomverse: War Stories For Marvel Comics

The Venomverse series starting in September is accompanied by a one-shot anthology special called Venomverse: War Stories. Solicited with named creators Declan Shalvey, Magdalene Visaggio, Cullen Bunn, Annapaola Martello, Declan Shalvey, Tana Ford with a cover by Francesco Mattina, it may be bringing a few more friends too.

Science-fiction writer Nnedi Okorafor announced she is writing a new story for the comic, drawn by Tana Ford — and added a few details.

My 1st story with Marvel, an 8-page comic called BLESSING IN DISGUISE, will be in the forthcoming Venomverse anthology. It’s set in Lagos.

Nnedi Okorafor‘s novel Who Fears Death, which won the 2011 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, is also turned into an HBO series, being adapted by George R. R. Martin. Her science-fiction novella Binti won both the 2016 Nebula Award and 2016 Hugo Award for best novella. Venomverse: War Stories will be her first published comic book.

However she is also joining a number of comic book authors for the 40th Anniversary Star Wars: From A Certain Poin Of View Anthology, writing a story from the point of view of the creature who lived within the trash compactor…

In this antho, I wrote from a dianoga’s POV (a giant cephalopod from another planet, a.k.a. The Trash Compacter Monster). #CephalopodWeek 😊pic.twitter.com/LTsMeCHX3q
