Abled But Disabled
My name is Kathy, I'm a 52 year old female with a disability. I reside in Houston, Texas. I have a few college credits, but had to stop going to school, for health reasons. I wanted to write this article to tell the world, that just because a person has a disability, doesn't mean they don't have the same needs, desires & dreams as the rest of society. I know that some people might be shocked to hear this, but we want to be loved, we want to go out on dates, we want and desire intimacy and yes we even enjoy sex. I have a lot of online friends, and offline as well, who are thinking of committing suicide, all because their families can't understand what it is like, to be normal, in an abnormal body. If I can make just one family understand this, then I will be a success.
It is so hard for a person with spina bifida to find love, it hard for a person with cerebal palsy to find love, because unlike most people, they can't go out and find a date if they want one badly enough because they have transportation problems. They have wheelchairs, they have poor eyesight, they walk with a walker, or a cane.
So the next time you get invited out, just think about how lucky you are to be asked out in the first place, and go out and have a good time.
