Chopping Down the Cherry Tree
It seems a shame to me when all we have is vote for the crook of your chose. as long as the electoral bunch are around, why does every vote count? I live in Wy, and no, I don't like Cheney. We never even get mentioned in the weather report much less the election only to say whats-his-name is from Casper. - badg35
This article is great - very fair and even handed. We have the unfortunate choice between an arrogant blind follower of everything that's wrong with Christianity versus an elitist socialist who thinks the electorate is so stupid they will believe anything he says; but even worse will accept his refusal to explain where the money for these grandiose programs will come from because he can say, "I've got a plan". - Desert Fox
O.K. I'm Brit but looking at it from this side of the Atlantic, George Bush is a disaster and has promoted many deeply homophobic people to positions of power. Kerry is not perfect but I would not be voting for Kerry but against Bush. Ralph Nader cannot win. It would cheer up so many gays and lesbians in the United Kingdom if Bush was kicked out. - jrossington
There are other candidates besides Bush, Kerry and Nader. In fact, one of them the Libertarian Candidate Michael Badnarik is opposed to the war in Iraq and wants to bring our troops home. He also is against any legislation amendment or otherwise that would prevent gays from marrying. He believes that the terms of marriage (including who can marry) are to be left to the people involved in that marriage and that government's role is simply to enforce the contract as written without dictating the terms of the marriage contract. Also Badnarik is on 48 State Ballots and DC where as Nader is only on 35 State Ballots and DC if I remember correctly. This coupled with the fact that the Libertarian Party is the 3rd largest in the US makes Badnarik a likely candidate if people know and vote for him. His website is www.badnarik.org. He has my vote and also has the vote of a lot of Muslims who do not support Bush or Kerry. However he isn't the only one, the Constitution Party has Michael Peroutka www.peroutka2004.com, the Green Party has David Cobb www.votecobb.org, Party X has Darren Karr www.party-X.com (he is not on any State ballots but is still running anyway), and the Socialist Party has Walt Brown www.waltbrownforpresident.org. However none of those candidates (including Nader) are on as many ballots as Badnarik. But I do think they should be mentioned so that those who are voting, can research ALL of their options and make an INFORMED decision rather than be limited to the two puppets covered by CNN, ABC, NBC,CBS, KPTS C-Span, FOX and other stations who would like people to believe that voting for those two is what freedom to choose is about. If there are any others running that I didn't mention then I'm sorry but I simply don't know about them, and the media isn't helping me learn of them either (I wonder why?!) - tigereye486
