Have I been 'jilted' online?
Dear Brenda,
I've been using Date.com for a few months and have enjoyed making contact with lots of different guys from all over, but I haven't actually met up with anyone yet. One guy in Canada really caught my eye (I'm in Scotland, UK) and we started chatting. Although he's a long way from here, we exchanged some really nice messages and shared some fairly personal stuff. Well, he hasn't been in touch now for over three weeks, just hasn't bothered to reply to my last message. I know he's been online recently and he has deleted me from his interests list. I just can't figure out if it's something I've said to put him off, but whatever his reason(s), I'm feeling quite upset by the lack of communication and wishing I hadn't shared any of my personal feelings with him. I haven't hounded or pestered him by email at all... Should I contact him again or have I been 'jilted' online? It's really putting me off using the website. - Jilted
Dear Jilted,
If you still have copies of the mail you've sent him, read it over. There could be something small in there that put him off. Sometimes it's the little things that you don't really notice. On the other hand, he may have started something up with someone else with whom he's more compatible. With so many singles to choose from online, this can happen more often than we'd like. The good part is that there are still plenty of other men out there for you. Don't let this turn you off. It's a part of life that never gets easier but it shouldn't stop you from seeking out your soul mate.
