Anniversary date?

Dear Brenda,

I have been dating my girlfriend for almost eight months now. We have always spent our anniversaries together, and this month her mom told her that she cant do anything with me that day. Her mom has to go to a wedding and I had already requested off from work that day. I don't understand why her mom wont let her do anything, and its really going to hurt my paycheck if I request off another day, and I cant request off anymore this month, so what am I to do? Please hurry!

So be cool and don't make a fuss if she has to go to a wedding. You'll be in better standing with her mother, and you won't stress out your girl. Tell your boss that your plans fell through, and that you'd like to work that day after all. If you can't afford to take a day off, then see her on the next available free day. You don't work seven days a week, do you? My boyfriend had to work on Valentine's Day, and it was no big deal. We just celebrated the next day. You go a long way in a relationship when you can practice flexibility. Relationships benefit from compromise. Wouldn't you want your girl to respect the fact that you might have some sudden plans come up?
