I'm afraid to ask if I'm his girlfriend

I'm afraid to ask the guy I'm seeing if I'm his girlfriend or not. Everyone else calls him my boyfriend. I never call him that because i just don't know. I've been at his house every weekend since the first of January. He invited me out with him and his friends. He made me a flash animation and gave me a CD with a bunch of cool web design programs. He let me cut his hair. The time the lady at the pizza place asked him why he didn't get his usual pizza and then said "oh, you have a girlfriend now ." and he said "yeah." He came back and told me this. The fact that he didn't say oh no way or didn't tell me about it al all makes me wonder if he thinks of me as his GF. I don't want to pressure him but I'm really into this guy and i want to know where i stand. I'm afraid of falling in love with him.

This is sort of related to that other question: How do you know if you're BF and GF? I want to ask him but I'm afraid that it's too early and that I'll scare him away. He didn't run away when i told him how i felt about him and told him that if he wanted me for just sex and not a girlfriend that i couldn't hang out with him anymore. He actually got sort of emotional. He said he was sort of scared of having a GF again because it's been so long but that he wanted to try again. We've been together at least 2 or 3 days a week ever since. That was good but i just need to know what i am to him. Is it too early to ask?

Dear Afrodite2103,

The fact that he came back and told you what the pizza lady said was his way of telling you that you are his girlfriend.

You can always do what I did with my bf after six weeks.

Clinched in a big embrace, I asked "So, what does one have to do to apply to be 's girlfriend?" with a big smile.

His response? "You ARE my girlfriend!"
Me: "Oh? *I* didn't know that."
Him: "Well, then let me ask you officially. Will you be my girlfriend?"
Me: "Yes!"
