Workplace Attraction leads to Confusion
Dear Brenda,
I read through the archives and could not find a situation similar to mine...so here is goes. I am attracted to someone who works at the same company as I. I have always been against getting involved with someone I work with, but for some reason I cannot seem to let go of this one. I seem to think he is somewhat interested in me, however due to my lack of response, I think he sees nothing but a world of hurt. Call it fear of rejection or insanity, but I have held back on trying to find out more about him, and as a result I come off as aloof or uninterested. I am worried that if it doesn’t work out there will always be that “weird feeling.” He has made several odd comments...for example he noticed that I had a picture with the date of his birthday; he thought this was a good omen. Then he offered to fly out to the mid-west to resolve a problematic situation for me. He has also asked if I know of anyone who would be interested in getting married. Any suggestions? - Melanie
Dear Melanie, I’d say that those are pretty strong clues that he's interested in you. Why not be straight with him, and ask him out for a drink one night? After you two get a bit comfortable (i.e.: brave), you could tell him that you're interested but worried about the job scenario, and by the way, does he even feel the same way? You probably won't have to, as he'll most likely have proposed by then.
