Ten Fun HoliDate Ideas
Whether you're in a new relationship or you've been with someone for awhile, coming up with date ideas for the holiday season can be a challenge. So to take some of the pressure off, we've come up with some fun things to make your date a hit.
Ice skating This one's a classic that still delivers after all these years. If one of you isn't the best skater to hit the ice, the other one can help. If you're both good, have a race. And don't forget the hot chocolate to warm up afterwards.
Flea market This is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with that special someone. Plus it gives you the chance to take care of some holiday shopping. Try the "Flea Market Challenge": see who can buy the most stuff for less than $20.00.
A Walk in the park This one's great because not only does it offer a chance to relax and get some fresh air, it's also free. Depending on how big the park is, there may be a restaurant where you can take a break with some piping hot apple cider.
Trim the Tree Don't have a tree up yet? Head out to a Christmas tree farm where you can do it the old fashion way. Have fun picking the "perfect" tree, then cut it down, take it home and trim it together!
Go look at Christmas lights Head out for a romantic evening of holiday light viewing. Drive through the neighborhoods and "ohhh" and "ahhh". Take along some hot chocolate and holiday music for a romantic holiday experience.
Take a Sleigh Ride The ultimate in winter romance! Grab some warm blankets, hot cocoa, and your sweetie. This will be a truly romantic experience that you will never forget.
Decorate a gingerbread house together Show how creative you can be by adding frosting and gumdrops to a ready-made gingerbread house kit.
Go to a Christmas party Whether it's the annual office party, or a gathering of friends or family, it's always fun to dress up and sip mulled wine, while you wander around looking for the mistletoe.
Make your own stockings Years ago, an old boyfriend made a stocking for me out of a paper shopping bag and staples. I have a good laugh every time I unpack my Christmas decorations. It doesn't have to be fancy to be memorable.
Bake Christmas cookies together Not only can you have fun doing something creative together, but the cookies make nice last minute gifts for neighbors and friends. Pick a few of your favorite recipes and buy some tins at the local drug store.
plus a bonus tip:
Volunteer at a local soup kitchen It's a nice feeling to help those less fortunate any time of the year, but if you can't make time otherwise, why not volunteer to help out this season? It's always appreciated by those who need you.
