RELATIONSHIP ADVICE - ASK BRIAN

Is my friend a hooker?

Dear Brian,
I have this friend, she is very close to me but the problem is that she seems to have a new boyfriend everyday. Since she moved in with me I have been getting funny calls about these "appointments." On top of all this, I have noticed that she has developed a bad odor I am worried that she is a hooker and has caught something. What should I say to her, and better yet what should I do about it as I am not sure if I could share my home with a hooker. Please help me.
- Hooked on suspicion

Dear Hooked on suspicion,
Your friend's many "boyfriends," the odor she has acquired, and the calls concerning "appointments" certainly make it sound like she could be peddling her flesh for cash. Have you noticed a change in her spending habits? Are luxury items she may have claimed to be unable to afford suddenly within her financial reach? You should have some hard evidence before you confront her with any accusations of such a serious charge. Maybe throw a few casual questions her way but don't sound like a prosecuting attorney. If she defensively tells you to mind your own business, or gives answers that the facts contradict, well, maybe she is a hooker. If no hard evidence materializes, and her lifestyle makes you uncomfortable, you might want to consider moving yourself. Unless you hold the upper hand in this situation and she has to answer to you, you don't have many other options. It's her life, you know.
